What We Do

PMA2020 uses innovative mobile technology to support low-cost, rapid-turnaround surveys monitoring key health and development indicators. PMA2020 collects a nationally representative sample of data from households and service delivery points in selected sentinel sites, to estimate health indicators on an annual basis in 11 pledging FP2020 countries.

We use Open Data Kit Collect (ODK), an open source software that facilitates data collection via the mobile-assisted data platform developed by the PMA2020 project.

In each program country, data collectors conduct interviews at households and health service delivery points, entering data into smartphones that are equipped with the ODK Collect software. They transfer the data from the smartphones into a central cloud server via a mobile data network. In real-time, data are validated, aggregated, and prepared into tables and graphs, making them available to end-users  quickly.
